Self Love / Hip Kit Club DT

Hi everyone ! I’m back today with a new layout for the Hip Kit Club design team. My mission this week was to take inspiration from the Moodboard of the month and use the edge punches.

So I started by selecting the papers I would need and that correspond to the moodboard. I chose the black and white paper  » Dream » for the background, then the purple paper « Captivating », the blue papers « Kaleidoscope » and « Incredible » and a green paper « Sensational » to create a small rainbow of color.

I then use different border punchers with the different patterned papers to create strips of paper. These are old perforators of the brand EK Success and Artemio. And I make several strips of each color.

I prepare the background of my page and I want to attenuate the patterns in the center so that the decoration stands out better. So with a wide brush, I apply gesso by making circular movements so that the gesso is applied evenly and so that the result is more diffuse and that we can still see the patterns.

When everything is dry I put everything back and I go to the gluing of the strips. Nothing could be simpler, I start from the bottom to the top and shift the strips to create this unstructured staircase effect. For this layout I chose a photo of me which is rather rare because I do not like photos of me in general but with all the embellishments of motivating sentences that contains the kits of January 2022 I wanted to make a page for me with positivity and sparkling colors.

I sewed a few strips with black thread to bring contrast and texture. I then prepare the photo. I add crumpled tracing paper underneath to bring texture and to blur the edges. Then I add a purple outline card from the pocket life kit after distressing the edges and finally a piece of cardboard to bring volume. I then paste the photo in the center of my page.

I add Clear Stickers phrases in tone on tone on the tapes. I love this kind of product! I selected several small things in blue and pink tones to decorate all this. In the photo, I add chipbords glued with 3D foam. I also cut several flowers from the « Resolution » pattern paper and place them around the mirror photo for a harmonious vizuel. I add under each flower 3D foam to bring volume.

Then I add flowers at the very top and bottom of my colorful staircase. I insert Die Cut flowers in black and white to recall the background of my page. I also add black and white leaves to complete the decoration. I add adorable little Puffy Stickers flowers here and there.

To finish this layout I add a little ink. I use the Shimmerz inks « Winters Mist » and « Plum Crazy » from the Color kit and I apply the inks here and there just to fill the area a little and to bring shine on the strips by overflowing on them. Once everything is dry I add splashes of black paint mixed with a little water to bring contrast and to harmonize everything.

Here’s more close up :

I hope this layout inspires you in some way today. I loved making it, I really had fun creating this staircase with its pep colors. Be sure to watch my process video to see more details:

Thank you for stopping by and watching, I wish you a beautiful day full of creativity.

See you soon…
