Hi everyone!!! I’m back today with a new layout for the Hip Kit Club design team highlighting the October 2021 kits. For this layout I focused exclusively on the Pocket Life kit as well as the Wood Veneer Buttons and the Clear Mixed Media Stickers of the Embellishment kit.
I chose this beautiful exclusive pattern paper « Village Fair » from the Sweater Weather collection by Kim and Kimberly for the background of my page and for once there will be no Mixed Media because this paper is already perfect like this!
I’m going to stack Pocket Life card under the photo after adding crumpled tracing paper underneath. I choose warm colored cards like brown, orange and also pink so that it fits well with the colors of my photo. I cut the large cards and add a piece of paper with an exclusive pink pattern « Turning Leaves ». I try to find a balance of color and dimension. I need a map clear enough for the bottom for this assembly to come out of the bottom. So, I choose the beige card with wool pattern that I cut in half. I added a lace pattern with a punch and I just have to stick under the photo. I have distressed the edges of each card because I really like this worn effect.
I’ll start my layout now. I previously made rosettes of different sizes in the exclusive pattern paper « Favorite Jumper ». I used a Die Tim Holtz for this but it’s quite possible to do it by hand. I also cut pink flowers from the exclusive « Pumpkin Spice » pattern paper. I then arrange the elements on either side of the photo to have a diagonal layout.
I add Puffy Stickers flowers on the little rosettes and add the Wood Veneer Button here and there. I prefer to use them the other way around so as not to have color. I add a few small orange flowers cut out of the exclusive « Harvest Wishes » pattern paper here and there and add several more Wood Veneer Buttons of different sizes.
With Die foliage from « Florilège Design » and a brown cardstock, I add a little foliage to this layout. I then add on the photo a Chipboard « So Much Love » which will be the title of my page with another Chipboard heart and a heart in button. I added orange DMC thread on all the buttons before gluing them.
I also add Clear Mixed Media Stickers to extend the central halo to the corners under the rosettes. It’s really a nice alternative to add an ink effect when you don’t master it when you don’t like mixed media. I wanted to try this concept and I’m really happy with the result, but I told you that it’s bizarre for me not to have used ink on this page! I finally added more buttons to frame the photo. I then finish with splashes of Gesso diluted with water to bring light and to harmonize everything.

I hope this layout will give you some ideas for a future project. I loved making it even if I missed the Mixed Media a little, I must say! But I really like this simplicity and this mix of color. Be sure to watch the video of the process to see more details :
Thank you for stopping by and I wish you a beautiful creative day!
See you soon…
