Hello everyone !!! Here’s a new layout for the HKC design team. To make this layout I’m going to use the August 2021 kits and I decided to do something very flowery and very girlish.
To start, I coat a white cardstock with clear Gesso to be able to add inks and thus protect the cardstock. Then, I tear the beautiful paper in half to keep only one triangle. This is the « Daisy Tangle » paper from the exclusive « Collect Memories » collection by Kim and Kimberly included in the August 2021 Main kit and i use the Laser Cut Flowers Chipboard by Prima Marketing from the August 2021 Embellishment Kit. I coat them with white Gesso with a fairly thick brush, making circular movements to apply the coating well everywhere and so that it is more diffused.
I distress the edges of the floral pattern paper and I coat it with clear Gesso to prepare it for the inks. I decide to cut out the outline of a few petals to be able to raise them and thus create volume. So with a cutter I cut out some petals. I only cut two or three petals side by side and I leave one or two petals between the two for a nicer effect. And I do this with several flowers to have like a carpet of raised flowers and I glue this flowery paper directly on the cardstock.
I’m preparing the photos now and I just add crumpled tracing paper underneath to add texture and to blur the edges of the photos to make them stand out. I chose two identical photos but with different sizes. I really enjoy doing this kind of thing. I prefer to integrate several photos than one large one. I add cardboard under the photos to add volume and I stuck them together then I glu them in the center of my page.
I add flowers that I cut from the « Floral Study » pattern paper from the « Color Study » collection by Viki Boutin. I decide to make a cluster of flowers above the photos. So I insert yellow and pink paper flowers under a Chipboard flower and I also add a pink paper flower at the top. I’m making another flower cluster in the lower left corner of my page with a Chipboard flower and pink and yellow paper flowers. I selected several small things in pink and yellow tones from the August 2021 kits. I glue with 3D foam a puffy stickers from the « Be bold » collection by Amy Tangerine from the Main kit. I place it between the two photos.
I add inks now. I use the inks by Catherine Pooler Design from the Color kit. I start by applying the pink « Be Mine » ink under the flowers then I add the yellow « Limoncello » ink to create nuances. I just want to add depth and make the flowers stand out. I want shine so I add Shimmerz Magenta ink on top. I also add the Shimmerz Inklingz Gosh Garnet ink which has just gorgeous golden pink undertones which I apply on the Chipboard flower and I alternate with yellow and pink so that this flower has multiple colors. And I do the same with the cluster of flowers at the bottom of the page.
I decide to tint the flowers of the patterned paper. Just the one that I cut to accentuate the flowery side of the page. I use the same inks as before. I apply the inks randomly by alternating the colors to have different colored flowers.
I complete my decoration and I cut flowers from the same patterned paper as the background and I insert them into the flower clusters to bring light and make a little reminder with the background. I also cut leaves from the same patterned paper as the pink and yellow flowers to add a little greenery. I placed them in groups of two and I glue them with 3D foam for more volume. I add a Die Cut from the collection « Collect Memories » by Kim and Kimberly from the Pocket Life kit. I distress the edges before gluing it with 3D foam directly on the photo at the bottom and I glue the words « My Girl » made with the Thickers « Stories » by Amy Tangerine from the Pocket Life kit too. I insert these words under the photos slightly hidden by the Die Cut.
I then add a phrase sticker from the « Color Study » collection by Viki Boutin from Embellishment kit. I glue it on the Die Cut at the bottom. I created a trio of hearts. I sand the edge of the hearts and I glue them next to the Die Cut. I glue the phrase sticker and I add another yellow paper flower in the flower cluster at the top of the photos. I add a sticker too cute under the title. I also stick the sticker « All The Things » in the small cluster of flowers at the bottom of the page and I add a mini round sticker « Yes » on the puffy sticker « You Matters ». And to finish, I add splashes of white Gesso diluted with water to bring light and to harmonize the whole.

I hope you liked this layout and inspired you for a future project. I loved making it and I had fun coloring the flowers in the background! I believe my goal of having a flowery and girly page is achieved! Be sure to watch the video of the process to see more details:
