Be Colorful & Eat Chocolate

Hi everyone !!! Here’s a new layout for the HKC design team. I am happy to be part of the Weekly Challenge and I will therefore be inspired by the sketch proposed for this week to realize my layout and the August 2021 kits.

To start, I coat a white cardstock with Clear Gesso so that I can add a little ink. I want to make a very colorful page so I decide to use the beautiful « Artsy Rainbow » patterned paper from the exclusive « Collect Memories » collection by Kim And Kimberly. I then tear off the cardstock to create triangles at the top and bottom like on the Sketch.

For the photo, I add crumpled tracing paper under to add texture and to blur the edges. Then I add the cards below after having distressed the edges. My mission for this layout was to include a photo of my Guilty Pleasure. And for me it’s chocolate! I finish this assembly with a piece of cardboard to add volume once glued.

Rather than cut the torn flaps, I decided to keep them. So I distress the edges and I fold them randomly to create volume and bring a rather nice effect here. I then glue the cardstock onto the patterned paper. I also glue the folds of the flaps so that they don’t come undone.

I chose the « Be Colorful » stickers from the « Color Study » collection by Vicki Boutin from the August 2021 Embellishment kit. With the Thickers Stories by Amy Tangerine from the August 2021 Pocket Life kit I complete the title by adding « And Eat Chocolate ». Then I add some Thickers Be Bold by Amy Tangerine from the August 2021 Main Kit, mostly flowers.

So I glue the photo at the top right of the page. I can add a little ink. I use the Premium Dye Ink Pad by Catherine Pooler Design from the August 2021 Color kit. I apply the inks around the photo, immediately blurring the edges so as not to have too conspicuous demarcation. So I make a big yellow halo below the photo to join from the bottom of the page and I find it pretty good then I add a few more yellow and pink halos around the title and to the right of the page. I finish with some tone on tone ink splatter and black splatter to add contrast and because I love it too.

Here are some more close-ups:

I hope you enjoyed this page and maybe inspired you for a future project ! I wanted a colorful page and I’m happy with the result ! Be sure to watch the video of the process to see all the details:

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful day full of creativity !

See you soon…
