Sunny Summer / Hip Kit Club DT

Hey Crafty Friends !!! I’m back today with a new layout for the Hip Kit Club design team. For this layout I will be using the kits from July 2021 and I will be inspired by the Moodboard of the month. I will focus on the rays of the sun and the colors of the sentence.

I start by coating a white cardstock with clear Gesso. I’ll use this ray of sunshine stencil I made with my Silhouette Cameo but if you have a real stencil it’s even better ! So I place the stencil at the top right of my page and I apply the Modeling Paste. I start with the center outwards and I don’t go all the way to the end so as not to have a straight edge. I want the extremities to be unstructured.

I use Shimmerz Inklingz Sun Kissed ink from the July 2021 Color Kit to start. I apply this ink to the pattern, here and there, in a random fashion without completely covering the pattern. I dilute the ink with a little water so that it can flow and spread then I add the Shimmerz Vibez Mustard Seed ink, from a previous kit and with a little water, I spread it ‘ink. I add the Shimmerz Vibez Mango Tango ink to create pink / orange shades and always with a little water I spread the inks so that they mix.

I spotted these Die Cuts sheets from the Main kit but there are only two so I will create more with the exclusive July 2021 cut file « Tropical Leaves ». I cut them out of watercolor paper in two different sizes: six by four inch and five by three inch or so. I spray the inks directly onto the sheets in a random fashion to create shades. I use Shimmerz Vibez Don’t Rain On My Parade and Coloringz Oh Say Can U Sea inks.

So for the photo, I add crumpled tracing paper underneath to add texture and blur the edges. Then I add a red pattern card from the Pocket Like kit to make the photo stand out from the layout and another orange pattern card. I distress the edges of the cards before gluing them below the photo. I then add cardboard underneath to add volume. I glue the photo on the sunrays, askew so that the umbrellas in the photo are straight.

I add the word Puffy Stickers « Sunny » from the Main Kit and I add the leaves on each side. I complete the title of Die Cuts « Summer » that I stick directly on it. I love to focus titles and stick multiple words above or below. I also add the phrase Puffy Sticker « Favorite Place » below the title and it fits perfectly. I add the small pineapples on each side of the title and I stick the Dies Cuts in the shape of a chat bubble on the photo on each side so that me and my husband each have our say! I add little words Die Cuts next to it.

Something is missing from this layout and I spot the image of the black and white rosette of the Moodboard. So I add black Acetate Mandalas from the Main Kit. This is really what this layout needed. I add a little Die Cuts sentence under the title on the Puffy Stickers. I add a few more Die Cuts here and there and I add just superb Wood Veneer phrases here and there too. I splash white Gesso diluted with a little water to harmonize everything. And finally, to finish, I add spots of black paint diluted with a little water to bring a little pep and contrast!

A few more close-ups:

I hope this layout has you more and maybe, will inspire you for a future project. I loved the way everything came together very simply and I’m completely a fan of that little tropical side that leaves bring! Be sure to watch the video of the process for more details:

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a beautiful day full of creativity !

See you soon…
