Hello creative friends and have a good Monday !!! I am back today with two new colorful cards with cute butterflies for Paige Evans’ design team with the « Wonder » collection and her « Butterfly » cut files. I really wanted colorful cards with the look alive so I chose these awesome butterflies.
I first used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the designs, three times for each of them, from watercolor paper. I glued a copy of each butterfly flat on the bottom. Then with several inks, I made a color gradient for each butterfly, each time starting with very dark purple.
I added another watercolor paper butterfly on top by gluing only the center so that it rises and brings dimension and finally I added the last butterfly on top by gluing only the center also after having achieve the same gradient with the same inks and after having embossed it with transparent powder to add shine.
I love the effect of movement created with these multiple butterfly layers and their color gradients are just what I wanted. I glued the background after distressing the edges on papers 6 and 21 to create square cards measuring approximately 5.5 x 5.5 inches and this also provides a frame which adds even more dimension. I then sewed the edges together with gold thread and added some white and gold ink splatters to match it all up.
I finished by adding dimensional stickers to add a title to each card and they were perfect to complement the decoration of these cards. Hope this inspires you this week! I had fun doing them and especially making the gradients that I like to do!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great creative week !!!
