Hey Paper Lovers !!! I’m on Paige Evans’ blog today with a new layout made with the Truly Grateful collection and the « Diamond Leaves » cut file. I love doing color gradients with cut files and when I saw this one I immediately knew how I was going to work!
First, I cut the cut files 2 times with my Silhouette Cameo. Once with a white cardstock to double and bring relief to the second, cut in watercolor paper. I prefer to use watercolor paper to make my gradients, I find it easier …
I then made the gradient. I wanted the ends to be very dark and lighten the colors inward. I started with dark red then orange and finally yellow on one side and dark purple then purple and finally pink on the other. To achieve this gradient, I used the following inks: Distress Stain Chipped Sapphire, Lindy’s Magical Lara’s Wild Malve, Autumn Maple Crimson, Martina’s Marigold, Red Hot Poker Orange, Rudolph’s Nose Red and Shimmerz Magenta. Once the gradient was done, I glued the two cut files together in offset to create relief.
I continued with the background of my page. I coated a cardstock with transparent Gesso then I made two-tone halos. A pink halo on the upper part of my page and yellow for the lower part. I used a Tim Holtz stencil to make diamond prints to recall the shape of the tone-on-tone ink cutout on either side of the halos. Once the background was finished, I glued the cut file with 3D foam, tilting it a bit. I inserted my photo up to the foliage so that it overlaps the photo. All that remains is to decorate it all …
I cut flowers and butterflies from paper # 02 # 05 and # 15. I also used Die Cuts flowers, Ephemera Die Cuts, Journal Spots Die Cuts. I mainly decorated the top and bottom of the photo and added the title with the word and Thickers stickers. I finished with a splash of golden ink.
This page is exactly what I imagined! The colors are intense and brilliant, really what I love and I loved making this color gradient. I really wanted this file to be the center of my layout, I wanted it to be the centerpiece! And I wanted the perfect file to embellish my photo, a photo that I love … I’m happy with the result!
