Hi creative friends! Here today a new layout using some of the Hip Kit exclusives from the January 2021 kits ! Here is the March Moodboard created by the talented Jana Mc Carthy which is just magnificent and which offers a lot of possibilities …
My mission was therefore to be inspired by this Moodboard by using a cut file and Mixed Media. The image with the wheel caught my eye so I decided that would be my guide for this page. I cut out of a white cardstock with my Cameo silhouette the exclusive January 2021 « Whell Bike » file, after having modified it to have only the wheel. I coated another white cardboard with clear Gesso to prepare it for the color kit inks. I applied a mixture of purple (Inklingz Precious Posey), pink (Vibez Sweet Heart with InklingzNaughty or Nice) and pink / orange (Naughty or Nice with Christmas Cheer) ink, forming a crescent moon for the wheel to land above.
I used the same shades with the floral cutouts rolled on watercolor paper to get a bouquet of flowers. I had to reproduce flowers to be able to have lots of rolled flowers. I didn’t roll them too tight because I wanted flowers not too tall and very wide. I love the color nuances of the flowers.
I aged the wheel using Silver gelatos which I applied to some areas of the wheel and then glued it in the center of my page with 3D foam to create volume and shading. I love this effect! I inserted my photo to the left of the wheel, after having matted it with crumpled tracing paper for more texture. I then arranged the flowers to the left of the wheel, overlapping the photo and creating an arch of flowers. I also added flowers at the bottom right of the wheel so that in the middle I can integrate my title.
I found the white alphabet was getting lost in my layout and not sticking out so I decided to tint it. I brushed the letters with transparent Gesso and then added the same colors as for the background and the flowers to create a color reminder. I love being able to tint the alphabets and suddenly harmonize them more in the layout. Then I pasted the personalized title at the bottom, in the middle of the wheel.
I added die cuts flowers, frames, a little bird and butterfly on the flowers, a wooden bust, hearts and phrase and white foliage using die. I found that the wheel did not fit well so I always colored it with the same inks respecting the colors of the background so that the wheel appears to be part of the background. I finished with a few splashes of black paint to create contrast and because I love black too !!!
